Christmas Markets 2024

**REMEMBER THAT THESE STALLS ONLY TAKE CASH**

  • PRAGUE - Czech Prague - 30 Nov to Jan 6
  • Currency - Korun

The Prague Christmas Markets consist of brightly decorated wooden huts, stocked with local handicrafts and traditional Christmas treats.  Among the wares on display are ceramics, jewellery, glassware, embroidered lace, wooden toys, candles, Christmas tree ornaments, winter hats and gloves, and puppets and dolls dressed in traditional costumes. While you can find lovely souvenirs on the stalls, to take home to decorate your house with or to use as Christmas gifts, the markets are about more than simply shopping. All manner of hearty local cuisine and refreshing drinks are available to sample. And much of the food is prepared in front of you. Outdoor Christmas shopping is so much nicer with a hot mulled wine or cold beer in hand!

  • COPENHAGEN - Denmark - 17 Nov to Jan 1
  • Currency - Krone

The Christmas markets in Copenhagen are among the best and largest in Denmark. If you can only visit one, it has to be Tivoli. Tivoli is magical year-round, but a visit in the run-up to Christmas is quite special. It is a genuine Christmas city, where it is impossible not to get in the spirit for the Christmas holiday season. Tivoli is a pay to enter Christmas market (be aware) so if you dont fancy this their are plenty of other around Denmark.

  • BUDAPEST - Hungary - 17 Nov to Jan 1
  • Currency - Forint

This Christmas market in Budapest is located on Vörösmarty Square in the heart of the city at the end of the Váci pedestrian street and opposite the famous and historic Gerbeaud Cafe. Wooden lodges of local craftsmen await you and numerous culinary booths offer a taste of Hungarian specialties. Animations, concerts and activities for children are organized every day on the main stage (weekdays from 17:00 to 20:00, weekends from 10:00 to 12:30 and 16:00 to 20:00).

  • KRAKOW - Poland - 29 Nov to Dec 26
  • Currency - Zloty

Just a heads up before getting into things some stalls may remain open until into January for the Ephiphany Festival. There's a lot to like Krakow at any time of year, but in December the city is host to a great European Christmas market that's in a lovely central location. It's packed with trinkets and food treats and is one of Europe's most attractive festive destinations. When travelling to Europe for the first time, many travellers immediately think of big name destinations like Paris. But the same money will go twice as far in Kraków. Even supposedly cheap locations like Berlin or Lisbon are more expensive than Kraków, with restaurants roughly a third cheaper in the Polish city.

  • STOCKHOLM - Sweden - 30 Nov to Dec 23
  • Currency - Krona

Get in the spirit for Christmas at one of Stockholm's Christmas markets with a gingerbread cookie in one hand, and a cup of warm glögg in the other. One of the best ways to get a sample of a country’s holiday tradition is to visit a local Christmas Market. Stockholm and its surroundings have quite a few to choose from. Here, you can taste Swedish seasonal delicacies, buy beautiful handicrafts and Christmas decorations, and – of course – meet Santa.

  • LONDON - United Kingdom - 21 Nov to Jan 5
  • Currency - Sterling

Every November and December, London springs to life with all things festive. From Oxford Street's spectacular Christmas lights and pop-up ice rinks to cinemas showing festive flicks and more, there's so much to see and do in London throughout the festive period. However, one of the best things to do this time of the year is to explore all of London's bustling Christmas markets. You'll find everything from stocking fillers made by artisan producers to stalls serving up more varieties of mulled wine than you can count on two hands.

  • EDINBURGH - Scotland - 17 Nov to Jan 5
  • Currency - Sterling

Welcome to the enchanting Edinburgh. If you're looking to experience the magic of the holiday season in a city steeped in history and culture, the Edinburgh Christmas Markets are perfect for you. Catering to both Christmas and culture lovers, this promises nights of pure delight. The daddy of them all is the huge East Princes Street Gardens market, but there are several smaller ones too, that are no less charming. Entrance to the various Edinburgh Christmas Markets sites is free. Certain activities will require a ticket (such as the Ice Rink, Santa's Stories, The Big Wheel). All rides can also be paid for at the point of entry and staff will be on hand to help.

  • GOTHENBURG - Sweden - 17 Nov to Dec 23
